Following the Roding tradition, the Year Six's performed an end of year play. It all began when one afternoon, my teachers told the class what play we were going to do. Alice In Wonderland. We all watched the Disney animated film and then decided who we wanted to be.
The next day auditions were held; I decided that I would try out for Alice. When we went back to school on Monday my teachers asked my friend Grace and I to try out the part. After a few run throughs the teachers made their final decision. Grace and I had been given the roll of Alice!
From that point on, everyday we were all working hard to make the play a great success.
The teachers and staff made us all amazing props like my, 'Flamingo Croquet Stick'
At one point, my teachers said that, 'The play might have to be put on hold because we were miles behind where other years had been at this stage and we had a problem with using the hall because of the severe damage caused by the flood.'
We all agreed but we did not give up, instead we doubled out determination and perseverance to create a show that we would all be proud of.
Show Night.
After a day of rehearsals we went home knowing we would be coming back later on to put on the best show yet. Once everyone was back in at Six o'clock, we all got our fabulous costumes on and headed to the hall. Waiting behind the stage was nerve raking but I had my friends with me to keep me positive. When I went on stage I was anxious to begin with but soon the nerves disappeared and I loved standing on stage in front of my family and friends, in the shoes of Alice. At Roding we were told that we were, 'Free To Achieve' at West Hatch I know I'm expected to be ,'The Best That I Can Be' and that's how it felt to be Alice.
