So Long Roding

Our very last day at Roding was an emotional time. Saying goodbye to  some of my friends that I'd know for  7 or 8 years was hard, but we all agreed that we would still keep in contact, and meet up.

The sad day began with a nice leavers breakfast where our parents came to school, we had photos taken, and we got to chat with our friends, while having a breakfast snack.

Once everyone had finished their breakfast, we headed to the hall for our final farewell. Our parents were accompanied by the year 5's in the hall waiting for the show to begin. Each child got to read out a line about of one of their memories at Roding. Some were funny- others were tearful. We sang some songs to cheer us up, and we even watched a hilarious video of the boys pretending to be JlS. In the end, we we couldn't take it any more, and tears soon filled our eyes. Including me.  When we were back up in the classroom we said our goodbyes and we were released home.

Thankfully, we didn't have to separate yet, because our amazing parents organised a picnic for us at Ray Lodge  Park. We had such great fun together.

But when we left the park, we soon realised that eventually we would have to leave each other, so we all went home knowing that we would all see each other soon, and that we all had one thing in common, we all shared an amazing life at Roding.

Leeds Rhinos

Ever since i was a little girl, rugby has always been a massive part of my life. My Dad has played rugby for 15 years at Bancroft rugby club and was captain for 4 years. I played for the Bancroft "Ruggerbugs" when I was 3 and I still go and support the club and cheer on my Dad. My sister Cara is going to start playing tag rugby for the team this year.

My favourite rugby league team is the incredible Leeds Rhinos. Ryan Hall is my all time favourite player. My Dad also likes rugby union and, apart from Leeds, Saracens are his favourite team.

Last year, Leeds Rhinos have managed to win  all 3 trophy's in the Super League. I even went to Wembley to  watch them win the Challenge Cup by record margin , 50-0! ( this is the second time I have seen them win the Challenge Cup)

My Dad said, that I should try out for the West Hatch girl's rugby team. but I'm not sure.

This is my Granddad and I at Wembley

This is when my favourite player Ryan Hall scored the winning try for Leeds to win the League Leaders Shield.

Swimming

This year I have represented two different swimming teams: Roding Primary and Team Loughton. I enjoyed the atmosphere at the Galas because it gave me a taste of what it would be like to compete somewhere like the Olympics, and I had never competed at a Gala before. I now have stared a new aspect of swimming; Lifeguard Training. I enjoy my lessons, because even though I enjoy swimming, it's so much more fascinating and  could have an impact on my future.

At West Hatch , I am looking forward to using the pool and showing people what I can really do.

'Woodford Massive' Crash Land In Mersea

The 'Woodford Massive' is a giant group of loads of families that get together and have a blast. Our usual 'Hangout zone' is the South Woodford Cricket club at the bottom of my road. But we love hitting the road. We've been to lot's of places together like: Mersea, Seals Campsite Hunstanton; Stanford Campsite poole, Spain; Menorca; Turkey, and Mersea again. As you may have spotted we like to go camping together a lot.

Some of the members of the 'Woodford Massive' are people I know that go to West Hatch: Georgia Ayton, Charlotte Stevens and Chloe Playford. They are all great friends to me, and I look forward to seeing them soon at West Hatch.

This year, we decided we would head up to Mersea for another adventure.

We had a close family race off when it came to Crabbing.  Astonishingly, my sister Cara and I came first with a huge 38 crabs caught! Below are some photos of us in action.

Playing WA and C for the Roding Netball Team

Ever Since I was little, I have always dreamed of being a member of Roding's Netball Team. After years of waiting I finally was able to attend training lessons in year 5 . Then one day in year six my super amazing Netball teachers told me that I had made the team. I was over the moon.

I was chosen to play as centre and wing attack due to my speed, teamwork , and me making space to pass. The netball season was great. Mrs Burns even said, 'That might just be one of the best years yet!' So I'm going to try out for the West Hatch Netball team. But if I don't get in I will be upset but I won't give up and  I can keep trying new things.

Being Alice

Following the Roding tradition, the Year Six's performed an end of year play. It all began when one afternoon, my teachers told the class what play we were going to do. Alice In Wonderland. We all watched the Disney animated film and then decided who we wanted to be.

The next day auditions were held; I decided that I would try out for Alice. When we went back to school on Monday my teachers asked my friend Grace and I to try out the part. After a few run throughs the teachers made their final decision. Grace and I had been given the roll of Alice!

From that point on, everyday we were all working hard to make the play a great success.

The teachers and staff made us all amazing props like my, 'Flamingo Croquet Stick'

At one point, my teachers said that, 'The play might  have to be put on hold because we were miles behind where other years had been at this stage and we had a problem with using the hall because of the severe damage caused by the flood.'

We all agreed but we did not give up, instead we doubled out determination and perseverance to create a show that we would all be proud of.

Show Night.
After a day of rehearsals we went home knowing we would be coming back later on to put on the best show yet. Once everyone was back in at Six o'clock, we all got our fabulous costumes on and headed to the hall. Waiting behind the stage was nerve raking but I had my friends with me to keep me positive. When I went on stage I was anxious to begin with but soon the nerves disappeared and I loved  standing on stage in front of my family and friends, in the shoes of Alice. At Roding we were told that we were, 'Free To Achieve' at West Hatch I know I'm expected to be ,'The Best That I Can Be' and that's how it felt to be Alice.
